Gimp: Using Shadow Bake and UV Maps

How to use those UV and greyscale shadow map textures that you sometimes receive when you buy a mesh or sculpt. They allow you to make a very custom texture. This is a tutorial on how to get started in using them in Gimp. This is a hands on class, you will be able to participate and make a texture.

I will assume that you know how to apply and manipulate textures on a mesh or sculpt in-world, how to find faces on a mesh object or use sculpt maps in-world, and have Gimp already installed on your computer

Mesh Studio Basics

This class is for getting started in Mesh Studio covering the bare minimum to get you going.  Once you have a  grasp on the basics, you  will have a whole new level of building at your disposal.  Imagine taking a 30 prim build and dropping it  down to a land Impact  ( LI ) of  1 or  2.   All this time wishing you could make your builds  look better but didn't have the prim allowance, now you can.  New and existing prim builds can be easily  converted to mesh using Mesh Studio.  The best part is,  you still build IN-World and no difficult to use software programs are needed.

Making Textures: Creating a Seamless Texture From a Photo Source

 Learn how to turn any photo into a perfectly seamless tiling texture by using some Photoshop medical arts: Cloning, Patching, Healing.
Principles apply to any graphics editor with the relevant tools and to textures intended for any 3D object > prims, sculpt, mesh. Lesson uses Photoshop CS5, but techniques apply to all versions of PS .
